Time for the introduction…

I’m James, a gas and heating engineer of 14 years. I’m ex British Gas, where I spent most of my time in service and repair fixing all sorts of boilers and appliances, working in all sorts of houses and chatting with people from all walks of life. I loved it. Most recently I’ve spent the last 3 years in heat pump installation and was heavily involved with all aspects of the survey, design, installation, commissioning and aftercare. Specialising in Vaillant, Daikin & Samsung Units.

I’m now working independently in and around Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Middlesex offering the full range of services I’ve learnt over the years. My top tips for working on the water section of a Greenstar are:
1. Wear gloves.
2. Once drained, pump the vessel to prevent excessive glugging when removing parts.
3. Invest in a head torch for better visibility.
4. And again—wear gloves! 😂

Carried out significant alterations in the cupboard to make room for the buffer vessel and additional components. Unfortunately didn’t grab a final photo once it was fully lagged, but everything’s now set up and ready to transition off gas.

The customer chose it over a traditional hot water cylinder—saving plenty of space while making the most of their solar panels and battery system. Smart, compact, and energy-efficient solution. This was twined with a @vaillant.uk arotherm plus 5kw ASHP.

✋🏻 🛑 Please get your appliances checked. This customer hadn’t had any checks for 5 years. Multiple seals failed around this heat exchanger and a couple of water leaks. The damage caused by rust can be fatal, but we caught it just in time! 🔥

Every so often I end up having a rant about these clips! The person who designed this has got to be sitting at home chuckling to themselves. It’s just honestly one of the worst things I’ve ever witnessed on a Boiler 😂 if you don’t have these as Van stock then definitely get some… left and right side, they come separately. #worcesterboschprofessional

Handy little pump overrun kit installed on this Worcester RI 🔧
No easy way to reroute a new cable without major work, so we went with a Salus kit instead. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done perfectly.
Ideal solution when you’re short on wires at the boiler—terminals are a bit tight so it’s a fiddly one, but we got it sorted 💪

🔧 New radiator installation in the lounge

Customer wanted a new radiator fitted in the lounge to improve the heating, so we created access by carefully lifting the floorboards and running new pipework underneath to get everything connected properly.

A bit more work involved, but it’s always worth doing it the right way to make sure the system runs efficiently and looks neat once everything is back in place. 👌

Another happy customer and a warmer home ready for the colder days. 🔥
